A Diversion Post

I apologize for the diversion from Street Fashion. This gem landed in my lap with a story attached and I can't resist sharing. This is my boyfriend's lovely mother, Joan. She's making a plaster cast dress form OF HERSELF in order to sew herself clothes.  This picture was taken by a 10 year old neighbor who rescued her after she attempted this madness at home ALONE and got her arms stuck. I love Joan, she's truly an adventurous spirit and a D.I.Y original.

These are the lovely ladies of Babycakes, a dangerous but delicious place on Manhattan's Lower East Side full of pretty vintage trinkets. Those headscarves and loose ties, adorable! (p.s. this week a new camera beckons, iphones only good for texting and talking....)
