Masako....of Fille de Joie

The longest hair, the prettiest shoes and laciest coat! Masako is the manager of this VERY fine vintage store Fille De Joie here in Brooklyn (click the link for a rather unexpected little store window dance)

Hats Away.

I was so close. So many great hats around the city now it's getting chilly. I love this one.

Not Only Curtains.

All I used to think about velvet was "theatre curtains".
But on a recent trip I found this great black velvet ( and sequin!) blazer and fell in love with it's cosy-ness. After scoring the royal blue velvet Gloria Swanson fitted number* above, I realized there were a few other fuzzy, warm velvet accents in the shop, and I kind of like them a lot. Who knew! These three items above are in the shop now.

*This Gloria Swanson blazer I found out online was part of an all-velvet suit, shame I don't have the skirt!

You can't see the forest for the plaid. You will find him here in the weekends.

Lora.....Broome St

Does gingham ever look bad? certainly not on this lovely European lady.

A little lady.

When is a dress form not a dress form? when it's a lamp! A friend surprised me with this yesterday and
I can't stop looking at her, gorgeous ain't she.

Beth.....Guernsey St

Lovely Beth was with her daughter (also wearing leopard print pants in blue, but didn't wish to be photographed sadly). Great shoes and necklace too.
A quick Etsy search yielded many pages of leopard but the one that caught my eye was
this cool jacket from BettyJeanVintage, leopard is the new black...or goes great with black...

Kat.....Grand St

I love these boots with her little shorts and slouchy shirt. Thought I'd add a little something new to this post and search for similar boots on Etsy and I found these robin's egg cuties below in IngridIceland's shop, nice!

Holy Holloway

Sometimes conversations with non-vintage wearing friends go something like this:
Me: "what are you going to wear? how about a vintage dress?"
Them: "Noooo I never fit them, you're lucky you're small"
Ah yes...'small'. Let's think about how great it is to be small while we gaze at the not-so-small very beautiful Joan Holloway, now this is how you wear a black dress, what I would give.
p.s. I read that our noses continue to grow throughout our lives, don't you wish it was a more *fun* part?

Bright smiles.....Lower East Side

I just love these two, their sunny smiles and willing participation in this shot made my day. Don't you love the way the STOP sign appears above this great lady!

Mystery Dress

I bought this dress in the weekend from a wonderful vintage vendor who sells a bunch of great designer modern pieces also, when I first saw the dress from afar I hoped it was a fabulous floaty 1930's number as I was shopping for the shop (yeah right), but alas no. The label has been removed from the back so I have no clue of it's origins, the stitching is definitely modern but the work in it is amazing, lovely embroidery and thick silk layers at the base, if you recognize it let me know! It's a little fluffier than something I'd normally wear but now that it's not vintage I guess I have to keep it (the hardships).
