The luckiest devil wears Prada
After drooling over the new Prada "bananas and monkeys" collection online I did what any self respecting person who can't afford it does: stood outside the store like a tourist and took photos of it.
Banana + monkey + stripes = amazing.

Eliza.....Broadway.
This brave and beautiful soul is Eliza, she gracefully posed in sub zero early morning temperatures for me, my fingers froze while aiming my iphone. But I think you'll agree Eliza looks fabulous and was worth it.

It's love.
Just got this amazing late 1930's dress for the shop. It's silky with the coolest colour combo and zip up front. I love it, can you tell? couple weeks back at the Antique Show in Manhattan I took a snapshot of this lady wearing head to toe stripes then I saw this detail from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2011 show, both remind me of this very dress...it's hitting the shop next week! (I think...)

Kate's yellow dress.
Apologies for quality of picture. Years ago I snipped this picture out of a magazine because it's probably one of the loveliest dresses I've ever seen. I found it when I was digging through old photos when I was just home in New Zealand, I'd like this dress to wear to a party this year. if you see it, let me know. Kate never fails.

Lost and Found
I'm sure if you collect vintage you have a few lovely people in your life who gift you pieces every now and then. At least I hope you do! A wee while ago I was given this fabulous blouse, I am guessing it is from the very late 40's or early 50's. I can't believe I forgot about it in the tailoring pile for so long, can't wait to have it altered to fit (little large in the old bust area, surprise surprise), if you've seen a similar blouse and can help with the age, please do!

Upcoming prints and details!
I really went for colour this time! These are some little 'slices' of the upcoming 20s, 30s and 40s dresses. They are beauties and I hope to have them in the shop over the next couple of weeks. Hello spring!

Poly....but in a good way
If it's black and floral I'll like it, pretty much whatever it is, even if it's polyester! I don't have slippers so this dress is kind of my version, always comfortable, wearable in summer and winter, a no-brainer throw on, good on ya, get out the door, happy as Larry dress (went all Down Under for a sec there).
Shoes I borrowed from the shop or at least they will be in the shop this week....anyone else got a favourite poly number?

Marilyn and Gwen.
I know this is an over simplified comparison and one shouldn't compare Marilyn to anyone....but I just love Gwen Stefani's style (and consistent red lips) She has that effortless sexy Marilyn thing going on. My search for vintage jeans intensifies every time I see a pic of Gwen in her slouchy versions. This post was inspired by the GREAT blog header over at BombshellBettie, check it out, it's pure denim glamor!

A wiggle and a waltz.
Yesterday I went to the Manhattan Antique Show with my vintage loving boss and colleague, we did our usual jewelry vendors then had a stroll through the clothes, our hearts were definitely skipping a few beats at the completely stunning range of dresses, incredible stuff. Unfortunately my heart nearly downright stopped at the price tags. My catch phrase of the day: "is there wiggle room in this price?" perhaps it should have been "is there waltzing room in this price?".
Etsy sure has some great-priced vintage.

Pointy Victorians
One of the reasons my mister RULES is that he also loves Victorian stuff, from when we first started going out he has bought me some of the most beautiful Victorian jewelry I've ever seen, what a guy!
Last month he gave me this truly stunning mother of pearl tooth with set diamonds (? we still aren't sure if they are?). I love it. Then I got to thinking that his gifts have all had rather sharp points; this teeny dagger and sheath, scissors, teeth....what would Freud say?

Snapshots from afar
Just a few pics from New Zealand. Beach, coffee and eating aplenty....the pic of the trees and picnic table is my sisters garden...amazing! and no...that's not me on one of those horses....nice to be back but could do with one of those coffees to keep my jetlagged eyes open.
