Yvonne in the 40s.

This is my grandmother Yvonne in the 1940's with her navy pals, she worked for the New Zealand Navy for about 40 years and married a sailor, she's on the left in the first pic and far right in the second, which makes me laugh as I seem to have inherited always having my eyes closed in pics....the bottom pic is family and friends at the beach in the early 50's, the baby with the bonnet is my Mum, not sure who is holding her but Yvonne is on the right....don't you love old family snaps!

Tiny things.

These are a few teeny treasures I found recently, the tiny watering can I just scored from Yesterwares, a great little Etsy shop, I had put it in a treasury and couldn't stop looking at it in my favourites...the Victorian tin types were a gift from the mister and I got him these sweet anchor heart cuff links at the antique show last month...good things come in small packages!

1940s Salvage.

I don't even like to think how cool this must have been as a dress, scored on a recent buy and 'mine' from the second I spied it, even though it's no longer a dress I think it makes a pretty great blouse, the colour beads and little pockets are SWEET. (1970s Levis thrifted recently for $5, my heart skipped a beat!)

Joanna Lumley....does 1940s

If you haven't seen it and you love the 30's-40's as a style era then you must see Coming Home. Joanna Lumley is pretty much brilliant in anything and here she's completely fabulous. Only slightly downside is Emily Mortimer's constant 'doe' eye. Vintage fashion lovers, it's a mountain of eye candy. (streaming on Netflix), please excuse shots I took of my screen...so old school I know.

Powerless.

Unfortunately a few things from my last 'buy' fit me. This skirt is raw and rough woven silk and has a few 'issues' so it became mine pretty fast...but then this little top which would look lovely in the shop also looks lovely with this skirt. The whole equation means it's all mine. Useless at shop-keeping I tell ya.

Sweet Collars

Collars are 'new' for me, have sold a few and now look out for them each time I am on a vintage hunt, luckily my last dear lady had an enormous bin of these lacy treasures and I came away with just a small collection, next time I'll grab the rest! My favourite is that gray mottled beaded one in the middle, saving it for a bunch of great 'summer grays' in a couple weeks.

Birdy Scissors

Got these sweet scissors at an antique show, with little doll attached! so great for snipping off those pesky thrift store tags.

I love this picture. Sticking her butt out and looking a bit 'over' everything. Imagine looking in the mirror and having that face looking back at you...

Nothing much...but a favourite shirt.

Favourite vintage shirt ( 70s + black + floral + mandarin collar yes!)  I've ever found, in Vancouver....it was $26. That's all I got.

Coats on, coats off, coats on...

New Yorkers are still wearing (vintage) winter coats, please hurry up spring....but they wear 'em well!
