A Feast for 13.

How was your Xmas, hope you had a feastful day if you celebrate it! We started out the day knowing there would be from 9-13 people at the table and we ended up with the whole 13 which was pretty wonderful. I made the pear and goat cheese crostini from the Etsy blog which was delicious, so easy. We had stuffed chickens rubbed with miso and butter, roasted soy salmon, almond asparagus, butternut squash lasagna....kale feta salad....and 4 people brought dessert so we were forced (!) to eat tiramisu, panacotta, bread pudding...ooooh la la talk about needing to walk a lot this week. Hope you had a good one too...now it's back to work I guess. Merry Christmas!

Manly style.

I just scored these great pants for the shop, on the fence about keeping them as they are pretty cool but just not sure what to do with the part between my foot and the pants....so they should be appearing in the shop today! These pants got me thinking about 3 of my favourite boy style outfits in cinema....if you have not seen Out of Africa or Annie Hall...or When Harry Met Sally then STOP what you are doing and watch them immediately...and in that order.

Land Girls.

Sometimes my addiction to watching costume dramas really pays off and I learn something. Such as all about the Land Girls! During the two world wars England suffered a labour loss when the young men went to war so women were employed across the country on farms to complete agricultural work...really interesting to read about this and just how influential this army was in helping the food effort during this wartime era. Below are some shots from a British series "Land Girls" which I've been watching on Netflix, it's not terribly serious...there's a little drama with wicked GI's, unwanted pregnancy, class wars, army desertion, racial prejudice....plus some simply fabulous 40s workwear outfits...think knotted leather belts and cardigans! go on give it a go.

Heady stuff.

Sometimes it's not always easy to find what I need in the shop, I am desperate for some fabulous bags and shoes right now....can I find some? no. Thankfully last week those old vintage gods were smiling on hats and jewels as these were also on the list. The jewels were for the market and are now almost all gone...but these hats are in the shop right now. Contemplating wearing the halo headband while cooking Xmas lunch!

70s sweaters.

A little into these 70's picture sweaters at the moment! Keeping the landscape one above as it's weirdly
warm and just plain cool....and well, if this guy above doesn't sell soon he shall be mine too! it's strange because doing the local market in my area means the young ladies are all born late 80s to early 90s so they all want 80s stuff....you know the big baggy sparkly sweaters? and I don't like to stock those (wore them the first time around)....fine line with buying what YOU like and what others want right?

Josephine Baker.

Though I had heard the name Josephine Baker I really knew nothing about this lady until Quincy from Qs Daydream sent me a wonderful book about her life, written by one of her adopted sons Jean Claude-Baker and called The Hungry Heart, this book really is so fascinating....and I have only just begun to really get into it. I also figure the book would make a great Christmas present for a lady or gent who loves history, fashion, civil rights, the 20's....and a little nudity thrown in for good measure, thanks for sending this to me Quincy!

Rain, rain....

Usually I love the rain but today I am so over it, all this great stuff to list in the shop and no sun to take
pictures...cleared the old schedule tomorrow though, forecast for sunshine so I'll be inside getting these ready!
