Bon Voyage!

Hello! please excuse the lack of action here on the blog until later in March. I am off home to New Zealand (yep it looks like this) to enjoy the beach, my family and old friends....and a wee bit of vintage hunting on the side. See you in March with a tan, less dark eye circles and some fresh down under style vintage....the shop will re-open on March 9th with a ship date of March 17th.

Suited to the 40s.

Had a little dress up this morning in a great 1940s suit headed into the shop next month. It is so comfortable and the skirt has two zips on either side which is so great, no more wriggling like a maniac to get into it....the buttons, sleeve cuffs and scroll detail....sahweeeeeeeeet!

March Preview!

It's panic stations here (I mean organized chaos) at Wildfell Hall as I prepare the shop for a 2 weeks break, I'll be away in the Southern Hemisphere for 3 weeks but will be re-opening before I am back with just a little delayed shipping....and these are some of the goodies I have lined up....more to come if this light co-operates tomorrow! Will miss my internet buddies for a couple weeks.....but there's vintage to be found Down Under...

1930s Paper Moon.

Am spending this last week before I go away working on draft listings for the week I re-open the shop! (after 9th March). I just scored a beautiful bunch of 1930s garments....this celadon floral two piece is just so lovely....also found 3 wonderful white wedding dresses from this period, 1 is a little similar to this dress Madeline Kahn is wearing above in Paper Moon, while I'm banging these listings out I'm catching up on classic movies I've always wanted to see...and Paper Moon was just so brilliant! Ok back to it....hope to do a shop preview also before I leave, viva la 30s!

Aren't these old postcards cool? lovers! Hope everyone has a lovely Valentines Day, I'm spending it with this guy, we have a bottle of champagne and I'm supposed to be cooking something...I hope. Last year we were in the air on Valentines so it will be nice to be on the ground this time....

pre Valentines update!

These goodies are hitting the shop today...I know I know it's winter....but I like spring summer stuff pretty much all the time so....having said that I am very excited about possible snow today!

one foot in spring.

it's like spring here in New York, my phone is showing the snow icon for tomorrow but I frankly don't believe it. it's cool because my vintage tshirt collection is getting an airing and my winter boots are still on the highest shelf. having said that I really miss the icy blizzards of last winter.....so many period dramas were watched....ok cross your fingers for snow tomorrow!

Manhattan.

Phew...so the show is over. What a whirlwind. Of course all the best intentions were to take
great photos all two days long, there were some of the most amazing vintage outfits I have ever seen in my life including this VERY cute girl in a baby blue coat who let me take her pic at the end of the day yesterday (just found out through a dear reader that this wonderful girl is Gertie, click here to find out more about this wonderful lady and what she does). The show was filled with inspiration, these folks know their stuff and they love to chat...so the days flew by. What an honour it was.

These two fine ladies are Jean and Valerie from the Idiosyncratic Fashionistas blog, I met them a while back at a market and was completely blown away when they came into the booth to try hats on, I day dreamed about this before the show so was just a wee bit over the moon when they wandered in....check out their blog, best byline ever "setting a bad, bad example for older women everywhere". LOVE them.

 This is the bottom half of SwaneeGrace's fabulous print dress from Saturday...it was a pleasure to work with her at the show and we are super excited to be participating in April. Next time better photos are a must, these people need to be recorded....

Yep I am obsessed with old postcards and photos, I pass them along almost as quick as I find them but these two above were written on by dear friends so they are being kept...just love the expressions in these pics! This special little lady strutting her stuff below is my Mum, she looks like she really stole the show at that wedding...what a spring in her step! must ask her more about this one.
